The Windhover Foundation takes its name - and its inspiration – from Gerard Manley Hopkins' stirring 19th century poem, "The Windhover." The subject of the poem, the Windhover hawk, is capable of hovering in the face of strong winds – ever stalwart – positioning itself to soar.

… High there, how he rung upon the rein of a wimpling wing In his ecstasy! Then off, off forth on swing …

Similarly, The Windhover Foundation seeks to give flight to organizations dedicated to meeting a pressing, unfilled social need – from women's centers to hospices, libraries, arts centers, playgrounds, parks, food pantries and more.

Founded in 1983 by Harry and Betty Quadracci, the Windhover Foundation continues to be guided by the Quadracci family who is committed to building strong communities. Learn more this organization by visiting this website.
